AIG is taking an enterprise approach to business expansion as it increases its global footprint. To support growth, AIG Global Services is developing an integrated global network of Shared Services Centers strategically located to serve the growing operational needs of AIG business units. A Shared services center currently in the Philippines employs over 1,000 associates providing call center and processing services. An additional best in class center is under development in Malaysia and there are active projects underway to evaluate the benefits of placing similar centers in Europe and South America.

Shared Services

The strategic intent of the Shared Services Centers is fivefold:

  • Provide operational capacity to support growth at a competitive cost
  • Improve service quality and efficiency by leveraging the commonality of business processes across business units to establish standardized processes that reduce variation, increase efficiency, utilize value add technologies and reduce the overall unit cost per transaction
  • Leverage the cost benefits of labor arbitrage
  • Provide contingency and disaster recovery support
  • Develop and utilize an internal AIG workforce which minimizes legal and regulatory barriers and maximizes functional flexibility and diversity
